New Release: Little Pig and the Search for the Sky

I’m excited to announce the release of my newly published children’s book, Little Pig and the Search for the Sky. About a year ago, I heard a (not so) fun fact about pig anatomy: pigs are unable to look directly up because of the way their necks are built. That immediately sparked a narrative about a poor pig who has never seen the sky. I read the synopsis to my 1st grader, and he gave me the green light to continue. And from there, my book flowed out through my fingers rather quickly.

Since they’re part of my target audience, I enlisted my children to help me figure out the illustrations this animated book needed. I researched local illustrators, searched Fiverr, but after a phone call with my biggest fan– my mom– she encouraged me to illustrate the book myself and there I went! I consistently asked my kiddos what their preference in illustration style was, and ultimately took their lead.

I found a Wisconsin-based author’s service company, New Book Authors Publishing, to help me through the steps of self-publishing. They’ve taught me quite a bit about the world of self-publishing, and now I’m excited to delve into the marketing aspect in hopes of getting this book into brick-and-mortar stores.

I’ve had tremendous support from friends and family, and I hope to keep writing and publishing more in the future. Here is an overview of the book, as well as links to purchase.

Overview:
It is said that it’s impossible for a pig to look up at the sky because of the way the neck is built upon its body. Because of this, the pigs on this farm have never seen the sky and deny that it is real. But there was one little pig who dared to think differently and was determined to prove to his friends and family that the sky is real. This is his story.
